Easter

We spent Easter afternoon at the Hoover Residence. We had a nice Ham dinner and then the kids went on a Easter egg hunt. It took Ethan a while to figure it out...he was more interested in running in circles and playing on the slide. We eventually got him wrangled in.

I can't believe it's been two years already...our baby boy is now 2. No big party or anything this year....for some reason being 9 months pregnant kind of makes you want to take it easy. :o) Ethan opened his birthday gifts that were sent from his Grandparent's, Aunts, and Uncles. He thought it was Christmas again ;o) Gaga and Papa made the trip down from Lewiston to celebrate Ethan's Birthday (March 20), Gaga's Birthday (March 21), and Easter. Ethan already had his 2 year check up. We figured out he was allergic to milk a year ago...which prohibited him from gaining weight like he should...needless to say he's made up for that now. Here are his stats: He's 29 lbs now (67%)...a year ago he was only 19 lbs (7%)...and he is now 36.75" tall (97%). We have the go ahead to start introducing him to dairy again to see how he does. So far he's done good with a piece of cheese, cheese ravioli and m&m's. But I think we'll wait a little while before giving him straight milk...we don't want to overload the poor kids system.

Wow!

36 Weeks

Well...only 4 weeks left, give or take a few days. :o) In a way I can't wait to meet our new little dude...but I'm going to miss the time I have with Ethan all to myself. I have a feeling he's going to miss mommy too. We had a very productive weekend. We finally got all the windows finished, painted and blinds back up. Our poor neighbors probably felt like we were snooping in on them...because ya see....they have two bedroom windows that are right in line with our window at the top of our stairs. And I'm always going back and forth through there because of the laundry room. So I imagine they're happy to feel like they have some privacy back. Saturday we took Ethan to Horton Hears a Who....he did very well and enjoyed EVERY minute of it. Though I think it gave him nightmares a couple nights in a row....but we're all good now. Saturday night Luke and I got to enjoy a nice dinner out at P.F. Changs while our friend Renee watched Ethan. Sunday we even managed to get a little yard work done...and we only had one incident of Ethan running into the road...oops!!! Don't worry we weren't far behind...well I was...but Luke was quick on his feet.

Update

Yes...this is our very special child...who thinks the flash on the camera is "bwight". Just for future reference...you probably won't see too many picture of Ethan actually looking at the camera with out making a goofy face. At least his Binky isn't in his mouth (but he is holding it.)

I just wanted to update you on what's been happen around here the past couple weeks. Wednesday...we got very good news...our new Yukon had arrived. (Which according to Luke is our last vehicle EVER. ;o)) We weren't expecting it until the following week....so we were very happy. We even took Ethan along and he was a very well behaved boy and came home with two new matchbox cars of his own. Thursday Ethan and I came down with some gastrointestinal bug. I don't know if Ethan felt as bad I as I did....but it wasn't fun. Pretend your pregnant ;o) J/K...no really....and you know how your all achy when you get the flu and you don't want anyone to touch you....I'm sure we all know that feeling...but add the feeling of someone else kicking you on the inside. (and you can't tell them to stop) Anyway, I'm not one to whine! Luke, the wonderful husband that he is, stayed home from work last Friday to take care of Ethan while I stayed in bed all day. (which selfishly I wish I could do more often) Saturday and Sunday were still touch and go but I was able to get out of bed and take care of Ethan (between trips to the bathroom) while Luke so diligently worked hard on getting all our upstairs windows cased. Ethan...bless his heart...was a trooper. For not getting much attention he was pretty good....well he did watch a LOT of TV. I am finally feeling back to normal and I'm able to eat a meal with no side effects. Which I'm thankful for because I was getting worried about the baby...I don't think you're normally supposed to drop 4 pounds in a week! Oh yeah...and Ethan had his 4 eye teeth break through some time between the middle of last week and this week. Fun times!!

Just a few more thoughts on what I've read in the news lately. This one is truly amazing, a 17 months old little girl can read. Well...Ethan is fluent in at least 4 languages...we just don't know what they are. Then, I read this story while eating lunch, not the thing to do, some lady was stuck to her boyfriends toilet!!!! Oh...not for just a day....2 YEARS. She's only free because her boyfriend finally called for help to say "Something is wrong with my girlfriend"....after 2 years. Dogs and Kids

Oh...Kula and BB....our first borns ;o) I find myself wondering how did we go from "No people food please"....to opening the door after dinner and calling for the cleaning crew to come in. In an attempt to keep our dogs from begging at the table we repeatedly begged our family not to give our dogs people food. Now our dinners consist of two adults, one toddler and two vultures waiting for the tiniest of crumb to hit to floor. (which is still very annoying and they usually get thrown outside until clean-up time) BB so quietly lays under Ethan's chair (as if trying to avoid getting caught) while Kula is right in his face....which by the way seems to be the most entertainment for a toddler. What isn't funny about handing a fist full of food to a dog...letting them try to eat it from your hands...and as soon as mom yells "Ick...NO"...the fist full of food goes right into your mouth. There's nothing wrong with that....right? Just a little dog slobber...as if he hasn't eaten enough dog hair in his two years of life. So anyway, no reason for this post...other than the fact that BB has gained roughly 10lbs since Ethan started eating solids. Since BB is an excessive barker (our poor neighbor kids) we've had to resort to using a bark collar...so her activity level has dramatically dropped because she no longer runs from fence to fence guarding what yard she has....and her hips just keep getting wider. So my goal...as a mother to two kids (soon) and two dogs is to get back in shape by taking BB jogging...it's still a couple months away...but if anyone is interested in walking/jogging our dogs please feel free to stop by at anytime. ;o)

Diapers...and more on the way

With Ethan still in diapers and a new one on the way...I was wracking my brain on what I was going to do to make changing diapers easier for me with a new born. Thankfully, one day Ethan allowed me to watch 5 minutes of regular TV...no cartoons. I was watching the Today show and they had the new MUST HAVES for any new baby...and I found my answer. I was looking for something that could be portable...so I wasn't running upstairs a 100 times a day and that we could keep in our bedroom at night so we wouldn't wake Ethan. This is what I found...and I think (or I'm hoping anyway) that it will come in very handy. Good thing Ethan wasn't too bossy that morning or I'd have no idea that this dandy thing ever existed. Home Improvements

Ok....so last weekend Luke came to me saying he was bored!!! Wrong thing to say...especially to the lady of the house, who is pregnant, and has a laundry list of things that need to be done. First making sure he was serious about wanting something to do, I set him to work! Being a designer I have an on going list of things I'd like to do to our house. Since we're having a second boy and don't have to fix up a whole new bedroom for a few more months I decided to let him take a shot at casing (trimming out) the spare bedroom window (soon to be Ethan's bedroom). So he took off the necessary dry wall and existing sills....last weekend.

This weekend consisted of a LOT of measuring and cutting. (and maybe a few disagreements...since I sort of know what to do...and have to explain it ALL to him) Half way through we decided to purchase a much need table saw to make the job easier. After 2 entire days...he finally got one window cased and caulked. It looks SO much better and I now get the pleasure of painting it. Don't worry...it's a window so I'm sure I'll have pleny of ventilation for those who are concerned about a pregnant lady painting. Plus, we'll get practice with our carpenter skills on the windows upstairs (that no one see's) and move to the downstairs windows once we've become masters. I don't have any picture's yet...but I'll post some once we get Ethan's room done....if I remember.
