The story! Ha...as if there is a really unique story to any labor. But we are all entitled to feel special at times. Anyway, I thought I'd explain why this little guy was 2 1/2 weeks early. Though in mind, he was right on time....I was DONE! For the past month or so, Clayton and I, have been going into the hospital twice a week to get a Non-Stress Test (NST). Nolan had been measuring large for his gestational age. The docs just wanted to keep an eye on things to make sure the placenta was keeping up and for signs of him possibly getting stressed. Either by low oxygen or just getting too cramped in his tiny little space. Well, 9 am Monday, I went in and was expecting the same as most days, spend an hour or so watching his heart beat and my contractions and then be released. Never mind the fact that I had been having consistent Braxton Hicks contractions for that entire month. Sooooo annoying. But I noticed that they were getting more consistent and more often. Long story short. Nolan wasn't diggin' the contractions. I can't say that I blame him, I wasn't diggin' them either. The Doc ordered an Ultra-Sound and did what they call a Bio-Physical (we've had a couple). They look for a few specific things and then tell you if everything is A-OK or if the baby is in some distress. Anyway, he scored 4 out of 8. Not too good. Considering the last tests were either 6 or 8 out of 8. (Mainly because he was sleeping, and they couldn't get any good movements out of him during the ultra-sound) So rather than waiting for the possibility of something bad to happen they decided to induce me. Poor little Clayton was upset that I wasn't going home with him, not our usual routine. Any mom out there knows the process of labor and delivery and once they "checked" a certain area they were ready to start me on pitocin. Clayton did not like that (and either did I). :o( Anyway, Daddy and Gaga show up. Gaga takes the boys home and I get started on Labor around 1 pm. Slow going, until I got an epidural 7.5 hours later and a half hour after the epidural and 4 pushes he was out at 9:11 pm. Phew!!! There is a complete separate story about the epidural, I'm just happy I had it for the last few contractions as it was. I'll spare you the boredom of that story and let you move on to these super hot picture's of me in labor. ;o)
